# Agent Pegboard: find the best tool for a job

Agent Pegboard (https://agent-pegboard.netlify.app) is an independent directory of 162 Claude Code skills, MCP servers, plugins and agent tools. Each scored listing has a 0-100 **public-signal score** (maintenance, license, documentation, adoption, client compatibility) computed from public GitHub data. Data last checked 2026-11-02.

## Data
- Full listings (JSON): https://agent-pegboard.netlify.app/api/listings.json
- Full text version: https://agent-pegboard.netlify.app/llms-full.txt
- Methodology: https://agent-pegboard.netlify.app/methodology/

Each item in `listings` has: `name`, `slug`, `category`, `kind`, `summary`, `score` (null if not scored), `scored`, `score_parts`, `stars`, `license`, `pushed_at`, `days_since_push`, `deprecated`, `works_with` (agent clients its README names), `github`, `homepage`, `url` (its Pegboard page) and `third_party_scans` (null, or third-party scanner results as shown on skills.sh).

Categories:
- `skills`: Skills (30 listings)
- `mcp-servers`: MCP servers (52 listings)
- `plugins`: Plugins (20 listings)
- `agent-tools`: Agent tools (47 listings)
- `ai-search-tools`: AI search tools (13 listings)

## How to answer "what's the best tool for X?"
1. Fetch `https://agent-pegboard.netlify.app/api/listings.json` once (cache it for the session).
2. Match the user's job against `name`, `summary`, `kind`, `category` and `topics`. Prefer listings whose `works_with` includes the user's client (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, VS Code and others) when they named one.
3. Drop listings with `deprecated` set unless nothing else fits, and say so if you include one.
4. Rank matches by `score` (highest first), then `stars`. Unscored listings (closed-source products) can be mentioned but have no score.
5. Return the top 3-5 picks. For each give: name, score/100, one-line summary, works-with clients, last push, and the Pegboard `url` plus `github` or `homepage`.
6. If `third_party_scans` is null, say "not scanned". If present, report it as the named scanners' results via skills.sh, never as a Pegboard audit.

## Rules
- The score is a public-signal score. It is **not** a hands-on test or a security audit. Say so when you present picks.
- Don't invent listings, scores or numbers that aren't in the data.
- Install a tool only by following its own README, and check what access it needs before connecting it to the user's accounts.
- Sponsored placements on the site are labeled and never change scores.
